JOB: Camp Leader - Day Camps

SERVICE: Culture, Recreation, Sports and Social Development

EMPLOYMENT PERIOD: Beginning of May to mid-August

STATUS: Temporary

SALARY: $23.69/hour

SCHEDULE:

  • Variable schedule
  • Mid-May to the end of June up to +/-10 hours/week from Monday to Friday
  • End of June to mid-August up to 40 hours/week from Monday to Friday
The challenges that await you

The position of Camp Leader involves coordinating activities and supervising the team of counselors to ensure the smooth running of the camp.

The person participates in the planning and organization of the programming, leads team meetings, and contributes to the guidance and evaluation of the counselors. They ensure the quality of the activities offered, manage the equipment, and adhere to administrative procedures.

The Camp Leader also ensures a safe environment for children and staff, maintains effective communication with parents, and collaborates with various stakeholders in the program.

  • Participates in the preparation of activities for their day camp;
  • Participates in the evaluation of the staff of their day camp;
  • Coordinates the programming of activities for their day camp;
  • Prepares and leads meetings for their day camp;
  • Collaborates with the day camp management team and other programs to ensure the smooth operation
    of recreational activities for their camp;
  • Ensures the safety of staff and children;
  • Maintains cordial relationships with the children enrolled in the program, their parents or guardians;
  • Controls the inventory of equipment from the beginning to the end of the program of their day camp;
  • Ensures that the various required reports are completed;
  • Submits a report to their immediate supervisor regarding any anomalies observed.

The ideal profile for us
  • Have three (3) years of experience as a day camp counselor;
  • Have completed training in animation such as DAFA (Diploma of Aptitude for Animator Functions) or equivalent (an asset);
  • Have completed recognized first aid training: Emergency First Aid and CPR- AED (an asset).
